First draft

Faith Terrazas
Period 7 12/2/15

 The Real Me
Rebecca Rocha was pregnant at a very young age, lived on her own, only relied on what she could afford at the time when she need someone the most.

"I was very young and in the moment and didn't think that there was anything to it,'' Rebecca said. "I didn't know that I was going to get pregnant at the time thought we used a condom and I didn't take the morning after pill."

Rebecca was naive and very sneaky she was always in trouble and didn't care what anyone thought about her she didn't have many friends and those who where her friends where lucky because she like a lot of people.

"I didn't know her like all personally at the time but I would hear that’s she would all ways getting trouble with her boy friend and was a very independent women,'' Steve said. "Rebecca was a troublemaker and didn't care about the rules she was breaking.''

Rebecca drove her parents insane. They all ways got phones calls and caught her sneaking out with boys and causing a lot of drama with her parents. Rebecca hated her stepmother with every bone in her body. Her step mom and her never got a long they always argued about every little thing.

Her father didn't like the idea of her being pregnant and was very ashamed of her.

"I didn't like that my daughter was pregnant and living under my roof at that she was always sneaking out no wonder she got pregnant am surprised it wasn't younger," Ben Rodriguez said.

" Her and her father had a rocky relationship from time to time,'' Claire Rodriguez said.

Her youngest sister Cassidy was not the person she would count on to keep a secret when she saw Rebecca doing thing she wasn't suppose to.

" I was known as the snitch when I was younger,'' Cassidy said.

Cassidy always look up to her older sister and wanted to be just like her but it didn't work out that way she ended following her own path and dreams but she still looks up to her till this day.

"She wasn't the best role model for her younger sister she wasn't the one to sit at home and do her home work,'' Ben said.

Rebecca was out and about when she hit the age 16 she was barley at the house as it was but she also had a bad attitude inside sources say she would always come home and disrespect her stepmom.

"I was your typical teenager I was rebellious and thought I was an adult though that I was old enough to get a job and raise a family on my own,'' Rebecca said.

Claire Rodriguez was Rebeccas real mom she never saw her often because her dad and mom were divorced so when she told her mom the news she was not happy about it.

" Rebecca was not my only child but she was my only daughter and her getting pregnant at a young age was not okay with me I wanted her to grow up get a carrier and then have a family I didn't need a pregnant daughter that early,'' Claire Rodriguez.

Rebecca was a little scared to tell her mom the new because she was afraid of what her mom would think of her so didn't tell her right away she gave it a couple of weeks to get her story straight to tell her mom.

"I didn't tell my mom right away I was pregnant because I know she wasn't going to except that I was a young girl didn't have my life together or anyway to support my baby because I known if I did it would of just caused drama between us,'' Rebecca said.

Rebecca's dad ended up kicking her out when they found out she was pregnant. She had no where to go so she went to go live her grandma who rested her as if she was her kid help her out with supplies for the baby and a meal for her to eat. Her grandma ended up being like her mom and her dad supporting her all the way.

" I all ways thought to my self if I had lived with my grandma sooner if I would still be pregnant but I known she wouldn't have kicked me out to the curve when I need her the most I could only thank her for all the thing she had did for me back then and I still am thanking her,'' Rebecca said.

She thanked her grandma for every thing she did for her Rebecca wanted to live on her own with the baby coming they were at capacity and if she had lived there and the baby and the father of her kid they would have no room for everything. She found apartment right in front of a sonic.

"If I moved there I wouldn't be that far away from my family while at work,'' Rebecca said. "So she applied for a working position at sonic she could be close to her family and at the time she didn't even have a car so she was saving money for the baby.''

The moment they been preparing for the baby was born on June 6,1994 the day their lives changed forever. The second day they where clear to go home with the baby and she didn't work for a good while so her husband Joe had to work to keep the rent paid after the baby was born it was a struggle to keep the rent pay and take care of the baby. Joe was known by a lot of people his friends and some not his friends. One day Rebecca and Joes life changed

" I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and Joe was in the living room and the window was open and the crazy thing is that we lived on the three floor to while we heard these guys call out Joes name and he got u to go check and when he look out it happen so fast I just remember him laying on the floor with a bullet hole right though his chest that night every thing changed for us."Rebecca said.

She had just witness  her husbands death it was the worst time for all this as they were running low on money and someone to watch the baby she was broken she called nine one one his death was September 5, 1998 at 11:38 p.m. died at the scene.

"He was died at the scene I couldn't live knowing my husband was shot through that window so we moved to the south side in these other apartments I felt empty I thought I would never get over losing my husband but time went one Kirsten was barley going into third grade when another man came in my life," Rebecca said.

Rebecca got pregnant and had another kid she was born February 8, 2001 they named her Faith.

"every thing was different know two kids a died husband and a new husband life but I wouldn't have changed a thing and I wouldn't have had two beautiful children that I love and would be scared to lose." Rebecca said.

Normal opinion piece

Social Media affects children's education

Social media is websites and applications that are used in every day life and is used to create and share content all around the world with each other.I think social media id good for children's education because it will give the easier access to thing and they can make new things inline then they can with just a paper and pen.

Social networking communities are here to stay, social networking has increased the rate and quality of collaboration for students. It helps them communicate ,meeting times, sharing information quickly then they would reading a big book to find it,Which can increase productivity and help them learn how to work in the real world and get them ready for the future.

Social networking teaches student skills they'll need to survive in the business  world. Being able to create and maintain connections to many people in many industries is an integral part of developing a career or building a business now a days so children have to now how things work young or there bonn be lost when there older cause there they new future.

By spending so much time working with new technologies, student develop more more familiarity with computers and others electronic devices. With the increased focus on the technology in education and business, this will help student build skills that will aid them throughout their lives and help with future business and schools and a new education for how the students learn.

The ease with which a student can customize their profile makes them more aware of basic aspects of design and layout that are not often taught in school. Buliding  resumes and personal  websites which are increasingly used as online portfolios benefit greatly from the skill obtained by customizing the layout and designs of social networking profiles so that kids can get ready for the time a head.

The ease and speed with which users can upload pictures, videos or stories has resulted in a greater amount of sharing of creative works. Being able to get instant feedback from friends and family on their creative outlets helps students refine and develop their creative and can provide much needed confidence or help them decide what career path they may want to pursue and how well they will do social media also helps with scores on test and taking test its easier to take n on the computer then on paper and pen and when you can have them read it to you on auto voice and its very good for middle school students going into hight school to help make there schedules and check the grades and home work excitements as well.

The other side mite say social media is bad for children the reason why many students rely on the accessibility of information on social media specifically and the web in general to provide answers. That means a reduced focus on learning and retaining information.

Students who attempt to multi-task checking social media sites while studying shows show reduced academic performance their ability to concebtraye on the task  at hand is significantly reduced by the distraction that are brought about by YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter .

The more time students spend on social sites the less time they spend socializing in person. Because of the lack of body signals and other nonverbal cues , like tone and inflection , social networking sites are not an adequate replacement for face to face communication. Students who spend a great deal of time on social networking are less able to effectively communicate in person or with other.

The popularity of social media and the speed at which information is published has created a lax attitude towards proper spelling and grammar. The reduces a students ability to effectively write without relying on a computers spelling check feature to fix there mistakes that they make every time they write something down or if they even do.

The degree to which private information is available online and the anonymity the internet seems to provide has made students forget the need to filter the information they post. Many colleges and potential employers investigate an applicants social networking profiles before granting acceptance or interviews. Most students don't constantly evaluate the content they're publishing online which can bring about negative consequences months or years down the road.

1st commentary article

Kids should not be spanked.

I think children or any age should not be spanked, heres why hitting children teaches them to become hitters themselves. All of the most  criminals were regularly sexual abused or punished in childhood. Its normal that children learn attitude and behaviors through observation and imitation of their parents action for sick or healthy. Its is the responsibility of parents to set an example of empathy and wisdom for the child.

In many cases of so-called "bad behavior", the child is simply responding in the only way he/she can , given his/her age and experience to neglect of basic needs. These need would be: proper sleep and nutrition treatment of hidden allergies, exercise and sufficient freedom to explore the world around them. But the greatest thing a child needs from a parent is their undivided attention. It is surely wrong and unfair to punish a child for responding in a natural way to having important needs neglected. For this reason punishment is not only ineffective in the long run ,it is also clearly unjust.

Punishment distracts the child fro learning how to resolve conflict in an effective and humane way. A punished child becomes preoccupied with feelings of anger and fantasies of revenge and this deprived of the opportunity to learn more effective methods of solving the problem at hand. A punished child learns little about how to handle things like this in the future.

Punishment interferes with the bond between parents and children as it is not human nature to feel love towards someone who hurts us. Every parent desires can arise only through a strong bond based on mutual feelings of love and repeat. Punishment, even when it works can produce only superficially good behavior based on fear which can only take place until the child is old enough to leave home.

Many parents never learned in their own childhood that there are positive ways of relating to children, punishment does not accomplish the desired goal, and if the parent is unaware of the  alternative methods punishment can escalate to more frequent and dangerous actions to the child.

Anger and frustration which cannot be safely expressed by a child become stored inside: angry teenagers do not fall from the sky. Anger that has been accumulating for many years can come as a shock to whose child now feels strong enough to express their rage that they have. Punishment appears to produce "goo behavior" in the early years, but always at a high price.

Spanking on the buttocks, an erogenous zone in childhood, can create in the child's mind an association between pain and sexual pleasure, and lead to a difficult childhood and adulthood as well. "spanking wanted" ads in alternative newspapers attest to the sad consequences that children go through and pain.

Even relatively moderate spanking can be physically dangerous. Blows to the lower end of the spinal column send shock waves along the length of the spine , and may injure the child. The prevalence of lower back pain among adults in our society may well have its origins in childhood punishment and sexual abuse.

Physical Punishment gives the dangerous and unfair message that "might makes right" that it is permissible to hurt some one else because they are smaller and don't have that much strength than adults. Then the child starts to think its okay to hit others that are smaller and younger children. When they are adults he/she can feel little compassion to though less fortunate than he/she is and fear thoughts who are more powerful.

Because children learn through parental modeling physical punishment gives the message that hitting is an appropriate way to handle the situation and express the feelings that are going on in your head.If a child does not observe a parer solving problems in a creative and human way, it can be difficult for him/her to learn to do this him/herself.

People who take the other side would think about it a love , you have to love your child enough to be fought and do whats necessary to get the desired result. Parents first fried second.
It helps the child learn its mistake and not to do it again.

Also they mite say that Parents do it to get respect to be feared in the sense of reverence is to be respected. Your children should be weary of going against your rules. It also teaches them to  submit to authority regardless of whether or not they agree.

They also say that you want to teach them how to make good decisions our destinies are determined by decision-making. Children have the the option to bey or face the consequences, and they need to know consequences hurt.

They slo want them to have self control over there child when you are aware of what is on the other side of making poor decision it is easier to exercise restraint towards the child. They want  full control over the kid.

They want them to be accountable of what they did wrong and what they did wrong like they want them to be able to own up to it and not lie. Decision has an outcome good or bad. just as your reward your child for good you must also push hem for bad.

Setting standers is another children need limits to lean how to grown up wit restraint. they will never be able to do whatever they want. Teach them  to live by the rules in place. They can't do whatever whenever the feel like it.

Strength not weakness Parents seem to assume fragility rather than strength spanking your child properly is not going to make hem have a low self-esteem. Accepting mediocritizing and dismissing poor behavior teaches them to indulge in there weakness.

They would also say it would work best kids need it period when time-out talking and talking away toys doesn't work you have to get more and more hard on them to make sure they learn what there doing wrong and why they need to stop doing that or they will get in trouble again.

Gentle instruction, supported by a strong foundation of love and respect, is the only truly effective way to bring about commendable behavior based on strong inner values, instead of superficially "good" behavior based only on fear.

''It feels great, because people know who you are,''Alyssa Adams said."It is the best feeling i love being student of the month,"
Students get rewarded when they are student of the month at school because they deserve to get a prize for there excellence.
"We get candy or a prize for being student of the month,'' Alyssa Adams said.'' We usually get a prize for being student of the month but you can trade the prize or a candy bar but most student of the month don't.''

Therese only so many times you can be student of the month but you also don't have to be as well.
