Great Black and White Photographers part II

For the great black and white photographers i had chosen Man Ray because he captures the emotion of the photo he makes me feel something just by looking at the photo. Man Ray was an visual artist he spent most of his career in France. he was a significant  contributor dada and surrealist movement.

Man Ray was born August 27, 1890 in Philadelphia PA.Man Ray dies November 18,1976 in Paris France. He produce a lot of major works in a variety of media but he liked to be considered as a painter the most.He was most know for his photographs he was also a renowned fashion and portrait photographer.

Man Ray has his own website,The website gives his story and information on the Man Ray. He was also in a couple of films when he was alive. Man Rays story is also being made in a book called "Man Ray " its currently being printed. his photos are being exhibited there are venues coming up to     see in The Phillips Collection in Washington DC October 10, 2009 – January 10. 2010 and University of New Mexico Art Museum Albuquerque, New Mexico February 6, 2010-May 30, 2010

Academic Shoot reflection and critique

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?
its was hard  to get some of the rules and make the photo look good and when i went to go shoot they didn't act normal and it was hard to get balance because every room is different.2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.
during the shoot i thought mostly about how to hold the camera and what to focus the camera on like who well be my subject and how was i gonna frame the subject in the photo.when i went to the class i had set up my camera to look at the girls but they didn't all fit so i to hold the camera different and frame just them.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography? i would of been more creative with my picture choose then just getting the basic rule.

4. What things would you do the same?
i would keep my same subjects.
5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?
mergers and lines for sure
6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?
framing is the hardest for me to find.
7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?
simplicity is one i don't understand i don't know to be honest

Step 2: On your blog copy and paste the link for the student's blog.

http://brandensphotojournalismblog.blogspot.com/

Step 3: Write two positive things about the photos.
 1)nice colors
2)was very creative

Step 4: Write about one thing that could be improved in the photos.

1)try to make there subject clear to the viewer

ISO/DSLR camera

ISO 200

ISO 3200 or 6400

1. What are the advantages of shoot at a higher ISO at a sporting event like basketball or a night football game?
because you can get more light in and see the movement.
2. What suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO?
The less light you get.and there is enough light already in the room.
3. What suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO?
more light you get or is taken in. when there is no light or not enough light.

This simulates a DSLR camera. Make sure you set the camera on MANUAL setting at the top.

Shutter Speed

slow Shutter Speed-

fast Shutter Speed-

1. If you were assigned to shoot at Bulldogs and Hotdogs night, which was a few months ago, what shutter speeds do you think you would have to shoot at the following events that night I would like you to answer the question for the following two situations:

At the beginning while the sun was still up and the courtyard had reasonable good light

a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree-high(fast)
b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings-(high)(fast)
c.) the Stars performance inside the gym-(low)(slow)
d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard(low)(slow)
e.) people streaming in from the front doors(hight)(fast)
f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop(low)(slow)

Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other.

a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree(low)(slow)
b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings(low)(slow)
c.) the Stars performance inside the gym(high)(fast)
d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard(low)(slow)
e.) people streaming in from the front doors(high)(fast)
f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop(low)(slow)

2. List the three settings your camera has regarding setting shutter speed (these are found at #5 on the Shutter Speed website. Explain how each works - DO NOT COPY AND PASTE, use your own words.viewfinde,
1) Aperture Priority”-, often abbreviated A or Av  on a camera mode dial, is a setting on some cameras
2) aperture-stop of a photographic lens can be adjusted to control the amount of light
3)Shutter Priority”-setting on some cameras that allows the user to choose a specific shutter
4)Manual- control of the aperture, and shutter speed is calculated by the camera
5)“Auto-determine the correct exposure for pictures

Aperture

aperture setting F2.8

 F16

1. What part of the body should we closely relate aperture?
The most part we should relate aperture is the main subject.
2. Finish this sentence - the smaller the Aperture the lest light, the higher the Aperture the more light.
3. In your own words tell me how aperture impacts Depth of Field?
The bigger the aperture means that the main subject and background are both in focus but the smaller the aperture means the main subject is focused on and the background is blurry.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. What are some of the main points you read about in the website above regarding manipulating images?  how we get and resevive the information,If something is "ethical"by definition it is "conforming to professional standards of conduct " those standards are the ethics themselves, or a set of moral principles or values.

B. What is the philosophy of newspapers like the Washington Post and the New York times regarding image manipulation? They photo shot and edit the photo this makes the video un natural .

C. What do you think are acceptable things you could do to an image and not cross the line unto an unethical manipulation? I think whats executable is changing the lighting of the photo or filtering the color a little and fix the blurriness or fix any mistakes.

On your blog

D. Post the manipulation (this means get that image and post it on your blog) that you think was the most unethical, and explain why you think it was unethical. If you do not know what the word ethic or unethical means, look them up on the internet. It is very important you know what those two words mean. Please write at least 2-3 sentences explaining why you think it is so bad.
this is unethical because its not the original photo. They fixed it up to make her look better but its not what she really looks like. The photo on the right is unethical.

E. Post the manipulation that you consider the least unethical, and explain why you think it is not as bad as others. Please write at least 2-3 sentences explaining why you think this one is not so bad.
This photo is less unethical because its the original photo.Plus they didn't or change anything in the photo. And a other thing is that they didn't need to add or take anything away from the photo

Emotion and action- THIS IS EMOTION AND ACTION BECAUSE THIS PHOTO GETS TO YOU BECAUSE THERE FEEDING THE HOME LESS AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL SAD AND HAPPY THAT THERE DOING THAT FOR THEM AND ITS A  KIND THING TO DO.

Filling the frame-THIS IS FILLING THE FRAME BECAUSE THE PHOTOGRAPHER MOVED UP CLOSER TO THE SUBJECT IN THE PHOTO TO GET A BETTER SHOT AND THERE GETTING NOTHING BUT THERE SUBJECT AND ONLY THAT.

PART 2
The picture i chose was called "field of tears" The picture is two football players kneeling down on one knee around another football player  the one on the right seems to be crying and looking at the camera as the guy on the left has his hand on he's forehead looking down at the ground and the guy in the middle is holding his legs and hunched over looking down on the field as people walking in the back.

post shoot reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos of your first 4 prompts?
Trying to get the best lighting of the photo and make it look as bright ti make it look good.
2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.
I thought about a lot of framing and the main focus of the pictures i was taking.
3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
Yes i would like to do it again now that i know what makes a better photo.
4. What things would you do the same?
I would keep the main focuses i was using
5. Finally - go back and edit your blogs with the 4 photos, tell me what rules of composition (which you just learned about) did you end up actually achieving? Did you have any?

6. Are you interested in shooting those same prompts again, why?
Yes i am i would like to do it again.
THEN in the same post called "post shoot reflection":

Step 1: Find the link to your blog on the Bowie PhotoJblog. On the student blogs list titled MY BLOG, go to a class period that ISN'T your class period. Pick someones blog and click on it. Go find their prompt/free shoot - square, metal, happy, Bowie and take a peek at them.

Step 2: On your blog copy and paste the link for the student's blog.
http://screamintornadodolphin.blogspot.com/https://cadensbloog.blogspot.com/
Step 3:Benjamin did good at being creative
Caden did good at having  the main focus of the photos Step 4: Write about one thing that could be improved in the photos.
Benjamin could of try to focus his main point or subjects
Caden could of have better lighting Step 5: Leave them a comment on their blog about their work. You can choose to write something clearly positive, or you can choose to leave a comment that is constructive criticism (something that is written in a positive way, but makes a suggestion on something they could have done better).

I will grade both that you did this correctly with a DIRECT LINK to their blog, and I will grade the comment you left them for appropriateness.

Composition 9/11 Review and Post Shoot Reflection

Lines-This is lines because the lines on the building catch your eye from the top of the photo to the bottom and its very clear that this is lines that best fits.

avoiding mergers-This is avoiding mergers because the main focus is the two men but the guy on the right has a pole coming out of his head and it touches the subject of the photo.

rule of thirds-This is rule of thirds because when you cut the photo into thirds the main focus is the towers and there not directly in the middle of the photo its off to the side and there is three main focus points.

framing-This is framing because the the main focus is the firer fighter and the lack square makes a frame around him and its clear that its framing him.

Balance-This photo is balance because the focus is the people and its balance because there is a person on each side of the man in the middle and the photo  is also very com.

Simplicity-this id simplicity because the main focus is the rubish and the back ground would be the greenie rocks and its a simple photo.
